Boston’s Christmas in the City (CITC) runs non-denominational holiday events for children and families experiencing homelessness and poverty, and throughout the year is always on the lookout for ways to help those in need. Founded in 1989, Christmas in the City is a 100% volunteer organization with a strong ethos of “community caring for community.” While they do many things, the heart of Christmas in the City – and its roots – is with the annual party for families experiencing homelessness.

However, due to Covid, once again they will not be able to host a traditional large party, but Christmas in the City will be delivered to homeless shelters across Boston. For 2022, in lieu of this big party, they will again be hosting CITC: Delivered, bringing gifts and a meal directly to the shelters, as well as Jake’s Toy Mania.

This is where SMPS Boston members come in! SMPS is looking for volunteers to prepare and support this event which involves sorting toys and other donations, and stocking shelves so registered families can fill their shopping bags and bring some holiday cheer home for their children. Please join us in bringing a sense of joy and hope to Boston families this holiday season!
