Join us for Boston’s 2024 Canstruction Competition - a unique event where creativity meets community impact. Canstruction is a design-build competition that brings the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) community together to fight food insecurity. This year’s event in Massachusetts challenges teams to create incredible, edible structures out of canned food in the theme of Icons. Whether it be iconic buildings, people, brands, media, or more, participants are encouraged to reach for the stars with their submissions.

Event Highlights:

  • Theme: Icons (buildings, people, brands, media)

  • Build Day: Saturday, October 5th, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

  • Awards Celebration: Tuesday, October 15th, 5:30 p.m.

  • Decanstruction: Saturday, October 26th

  • Beneficiary: Merrimack Valley Food Bank

Participation Details:

  • Multi-day Commitment: Teams must be available for both build and decanstruction days.

  • Team Limit: Only the first 14 teams to register and pay the fee will be able to compete. If registration closes and you’d like to be added to a waitlist, please email us at [email protected].

Canstruction is a friendly competition where teams from all over Massachusetts come together to showcase their creativity and vie for awards, and at the heart of it all is a shared commitment to making a positive impact in our communities. The 2023 competition saw 14,465 cans benefit the Merrimack Valley Food Bank, an organization that serves individuals and families in 32 cities and towns in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

For more information, please visit https://smpsboston.org/Canstruction. More detailed information on schedule, structure regulations, and awards will be provided to teams as they sign up, or to teams that are considering participation. Please email [email protected] for further details.

The excitement and energy that surround Canstruction are truly inspiring, and we encourage participants to join us in the fight against food insecurity, one can at a time.
