Why did you decide to join SMPS?
When I was new to this industry a million years ago I was told that I should join SMPS because it would help me build a network and learn about how this industry works. Throughout my career I’ve maintained my membership because I’ve found this group to be extremely valuable for the unofficial mentorship I’ve experienced from other members as well as the unofficial mentoring I’ve been able to provide now that I’ve been in this industry almost 20 years. SMPS has helped with education - learning the nuts and bolts of how to be a marketer in this industry as well as the broader industry perspective of who the major players are, what services they provide and their markets.
What advice would you give to someone considering joining SMPS?
If you are a marketer in the AEC industry there’s no better place for you. Try out a few events before becoming a member and sample the culture. If you feel that your marketing skills could use a refresh or if you just want to talk shop with other services marketers, SMPS Boston is the place for you.
What do you work toward in your free time?
Being a better father and husband. It’s a process that’s constantly evolving just like life….
What are you currently watching, reading, or listening to?
The Bear. Probably the best show in the universe right now with Ted Lasso calling it quits. I read the first Game of Thrones book, taking it from the Take a Book Give a Book library and now I’m hooked. About to start Dance of Dragons Volume 1. I never listened to any LCD Soundsystem record all the way through so I picked up Sound of Silver. Love it.
