Years Involved in SMPS: 1

What SMPS committees are you involved with, if any?

Co-Chair of Special Events Committee

Why did you decide to join SMPS?

I joined SMPS courtesy of my boss, Sarah McGillicuddy! She was (and still is) an advocate for getting involved in the industry, and SMPS Boston was the perfect place to start. Upon joining, I realized the community built through AEC Marketing and Business Development had more to offer than a line to add to a resume. I’ve truly met some of my greatest friends, had the opportunity to meet and develop relationships with industry firms, and have a well-respected community of people to confide in when a question arises.

What led you to working in the A/E/C industry?

The AEC industry is way more than what it stands for. Architecture, engineering, and construction is an overarching theme of what this community really is and has come to be. I would say the uniqueness of the industry is what led me here and attracted me to it. There are so many avenues to go down aside from the technical career paths that are just as important– marketing, business development, commercial real estate, occupancy planning, and the list goes on. There’s something so rewarding about how the different sectors of the industry come together toward achieving one goal. I know it’s cliché to say “this is cliché,” but, teamwork makes the dreamwork (and I will stand by my love of a good cliché).

I began with a wastewater treatment and recycling facility, Globalcycle, in 2020. The lessons I learned at this family-owned small firm are things that I incorporate to my work everyday and will continue to carry with me. I can’t thank them enough for taking a chance on me, a girl with no experience but just the willingness to get involved.

I joined BR+A Consulting Engineers in January 2022, and have had the most rewarding experience learning from some of the industry’s top professionals. I swear everyday I learn something new and it’s not to be understated!

What do you work toward in your free time?

I am an optimist, and always working on ways to better myself both physically and mentally. For me, the two are completely intertwined. I love to go to the gym and for me, that means more productivity mentally. I love walking with my dog and spending time with my family– which brings me joy and thus motivates me to get my body moving and exercise! See, it’s full circle 😀

What are you currently watching, reading, or listening to?

I’m late to the train (or rodeo– haha, sorry I had to) on this one but– Yellowstone! I have never rode on a horse but for some reason this show makes me think I can. I also really enjoy listening to podcasts, specifically Morbid, Camp Counselors, NPR Up First, and Real Pod.
