Our Member Spotlight Blog serves as a platform to welcome new members to SMPS Boston and highlight our established members within the A/E/C community. This week, we're getting to know Kristen Fogarty, Marketing Manager at Vantage Builders!
Name: Kristen Fogarty
Company: Vantage Builders
Title: Marketing Manager
Years Involved in SMPS:
I first joined SMPS in 2016 and was involved for approximately 3 years before briefly stepping away from the industry. I joined again in 2024 – bringing my total involvement to 4 years!
What SMPS committees are you involved with, if any?
I recently joined the Professional Development Committee.
Why did you decide to join SMPS?
I joined SMPS because I was looking for a community of AEC professionals who share my passion for marketing and business development. When I first entered this field, I realized how much there was to learn and how important it is to have a strong network of people who are constantly striving for growth and innovation. SMPS felt like the perfect place for me to connect with others who are not only knowledgeable but also eager to support each other's professional journeys. Being a part of SMPS allows me to continuously grow, learn from those around me, and contribute my own experiences. It’s been a great way for me to both challenge myself and build meaningful relationships within the industry.
What led you to working in the A/E/C industry?
After college, I was looking for my first marketing role and joined an engineering firm in Andover, MA. I worked for a great company with an amazing marketing team, and I learned a lot during my time there. After a few years, I transitioned into the renewable energy sector, focusing on brand activation, events, and partnerships. That experience further developed my marketing skills, and I’m excited to be back in the A/E/C industry, bringing together everything I’ve learned from both experiences!
What do you work toward in your free time?
In my free time, staying active is a big priority. I’ve been a fitness instructor for over 14 years, and teaching spin, treadmill, and strength classes is something I’m truly passionate about. Being active has always been a core part of who I am. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time outdoors and spending time with friends and family. These activities help me stay energized and bring a fresh perspective to my professional work, fueling my creativity and drive.
What are you currently watching, reading, or listening to?
I’ve been listening to Mel Robbins’ podcasts lately, and I also enjoy financial podcasts or anything motivational! I don’t watch a lot of TV, but I’ve recently started rewatching A Million Little Things and The Office.
