SMPS Boston Member Spotlight: Kourtenay Hanrahan

What SMPS committees are you involved with, if any?
I am not currently involved in any committees, but I was previously the President of the New York Chapter from 2018-2019, prior to moving to Boston at the end of August 2019, right as my term ended.  Before that I held roles as Vice President/President-Elect, Secretary, and Awards Program Chair.  

Why did you decide to join SMPS?
My boss at the time convinced me to join (Hi Andrew!), as I was new to the industry and wanted to make connections to other marketing professionals who had “found” their way into the AEC industry like me.   

What advice would you give to someone considering joining SMPS?
What are you waiting for? Not only is it a tremendous resource for connecting with professionals in our industry, I have met some of my best friends from being a part of SMPS. At any given moment you can call anyone in the SMPS membership from all over the country and get advice, share knowledge, or find a lending hand in almost anything.  

What do you work toward in your free time?
I’m currently part of the 2024 CoreNet Leadership 2.0 Cohort so I have been dedicating a lot of my free time to that, but most of the time you can find me wrangling my three year old son when I’m not working.

What are you currently watching, reading, or listening to?
I have been on a Wham! kick for the better part of a year so you can find me singing Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go in my car on most days.
