What SMPS committees are you involved with, if any?
None currently.
Why did you decide to join SMPS?
I wanted a place to connect with others in marketing for the AEC industry, didn't realize SMPS existed until our marketing director encouraged me to join. There are many resources available through SMPS, finding connections with others and sharing experience is so helpful in this line of work.
What advice would you give to someone considering joining SMPS?
I've always loved architecture and went to school for graphic design so it sort of just came together. Starting as a marketing coordinator at a small architectural studio, primarily in the historic preservation and health care arena, I could see where they were making a difference in the welfare of others through their work. That was huge to me, I wanted to help have a positive impact on the communities around me. After a bit of a pause to raise my three kids I joined Annum as Marketing Coordinator. For me the AEC industry is a good fit, I enjoy continually learning and working in a creative and collaborative environment with the end goal of helping people through the work produced. Now, it is also important to show my kids how we can all play a part in helping one another through our work and hopefully inspire them too.
What do you work toward in your free time?
Family is important to me and I like to spend quality time with my kids which can be challenging with working full time. I am extremely blessed to work for a company that helps me balance things between work and home. I'm always interested in creative pursuits and learning new skills, I recently took a pottery class and my kids and I are all learning to throw on the wheel.
What are you currently watching, reading, or listening to?
I'm currently reading book 2 of the Temeraire Series, a historical fantasy with dragons and Jervis Campbell is an artist I recently stumbled on and have enjoyed listening to. Honestly though I often don't get much time to read and my kids often end up picking our music choices.
