SMPS Boston Member Spotlight: Faye DeMoura

What SMPS committees are you involved with, if any?
I spent some time on the Membership Committee, which is an awesome group of marketers. Participating in their Peer-to-Peer Coaching virtual sessions allowed me to meet and build relationships with folks I would have otherwise never met.

Why did you decide to join SMPS?
I had been in the A/E/C industry for about 10 years and wanted to get more credibility in my role as a professional services marketer. The CPSM designation helped me achieve that goal. I’ve continued to stay engaged because it’s a wonderful way to connect with peers in our industry. 

What advice would you give to someone considering joining SMPS?
As A/E/C marketers, our roles are really unique. It’s nice to have a community of people around you that truly understand what you do. Take the time to connect and build your network of peers, they will stay by your side and support you throughout your career.

What do you work toward in your free time?
I have a lot of passion for the work we do in the water and wastewater space, so I dedicate time to the New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) as Chair of its Public Awareness Committee. At home, if not out and about with family and friends, one of my favorite things to do is take a quiet walk through the neighborhood with my son.

What are you currently watching, reading, or listening to?
I might be the #1 (and only?) member of the John Denver fan club. His music makes me really happy.
