What SMPS committees are you involved with, if any?
I recently joined the Membership Committee.
Why did you decide to join SMPS?
Having stumbled into the AEC industry with a background in sustainable fashion, I quickly realized that marketing for professional services is a completely different beast from product-based marketing. While I was learning the ropes in a new role and industry, I found SMPS’s educational resources and networking opportunities to be invaluable. The professional development sessions offered are specifically catered to the work we do as AEC marketers and have empowered me to keep growing and gaining confidence in my role. SMPS is one of the few places where I can talk about proposals, database management, and InDesign efficiency, with people who are just as passionate about the work we do.
What advice would you give to someone considering joining SMPS?
The sooner you can get involved, the better! Attend an event (even if it feels intimidating at first), join a committee, or listen to a webinar. I participated in the 2023-2024 Exchange Mentorship Program, where I had the opportunity to connect with an amazing group of like-minded professionals. SMPS Boston’s Peer-to-Peer Coaching (P2PC) Network, is another great way to start learning and connecting with members in a collaborative setting. SMPS has provided me not only with the tools to grow, it has introduced me to a supportive community of people who may be competitors on paper, but in person are rooting for each other every step of the way.
What do you work toward in your free time?
I love traveling and exploring all the world has to offer! I recently returned from a trip to Japan where I explored new cities, took in stunning landscapes, and savored delicious meals everywhere we went. When I’m not traveling, you’ll likely find me cooking up a storm in the kitchen or enjoying the outdoors, whether on a bike, trail, or out on the water.
What are you currently watching, reading, or listening to?
I’m definitely guilty of rewatching the same shows on repeat, The Office and Schitt’s Creek are my go-to favorites. I’m rarely without a book (or audiobook) nearby, and I’m currently reading The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden.
