Name: Tully Mahoney
Company: Page, now Stantec
Title: Associate Storytelling Coordinator
LinkedIn Profile
Years Involved in SMPS: 2 years

What SMPS committees are you involved with, if any?
I am the co-chair of the Boston Special Events Committee and a member of the Programs Committee for NERC.

What drew you to joining SMPS?
I initially joined at the recommendation of a colleague. Since this position is my first in AEC, she suggested it could help me learn more about the industry and how my work supports the pursuit process. In the past year, I’ve become much more active in the community, energized by the relationships I’ve made across SMPS and the growth opportunities it has provided for me, including the national and local recognition of my work and speaking at my first conferences this year, with more to come in 2026.

How do you explain your job to people who have never worked in AEC?
Simply put, my work often hinges on the idea of breaking down complex topics to engage a wider audience.

The method that I’m using to make that content more accessible could vary depending on the project, but a few examples have included producing and editing our podcast, working on our Design for Impact book to share project stories related to our eight environmental and social responsibility impact areas, writing articles, creating data visualizations that tell a story, and copyediting the content in campus planning deliverables.

What is your favorite part about your work?
I’m constantly learning new things! It’s a bonus that my work often involves chatting with new and fascinating people and using my creativity to transform those conversations into promotional content.

What is a way that you de-stress from work, either in or outside of the workplace?
Running is a great way for me to destress because it forces me to be entirely focused on completing that distance. I’ve also recently taken up knitting as a hobby, which is another great way for me to relax at the end of a day.

What are you currently watching, reading, or listening to?
Typically, I stick to one show and book at a time, but somehow I’ve collected multiples of each recently. I’m currently watching Succession, Nobody Wants This, Dancing with the Stars, and wrapping up my first viewing of The Lord of the Rings. I am reading the Game of Thrones series (after watching the TV series this summer) and Marathon by Hal Higdon to prepare for the 2026 Boston Marathon! And I’m listening to different podcasts all the time and all day, usually Armchair Expert or one of my guilty pleasure Bravo-Leb’s podcasts.
