What SMPS committees are you involved with, if any?
I am currently the Co-Chair of the Communications Committee! I’ve been on the committee for as long as I’ve been a part of SMPS.
What drew you to joining SMPS?
I started my career as a reporter for local newspapers in Boston, but realized that was not going to be a lifelong journey for me. After I joined Studio G Architects in September 2022, I was encouraged to join SMPS Boston by my supervisor, and it has been the best decision! As someone new to the AEC industry and who works in a firm with a very small marketing team, I knew SMPS Boston was going to provide a wealth of knowledge I could use in my role.
How do you explain your job to people who have never worked in AEC?
In my job, I do a little bit of everything! On the communications side, I help tell Studio G Architects’s story through crafting content across multiple platforms, including blog posts, social media, and our firm’s quarterly newsletter. On the business development side, I lead the preparation and production of proposals, support the creation of interview materials, and help plan and coordinate project photography. With a two-person marketing team, we do it all and there is always something exciting to work on!
What is your favorite part about your work?
My favorite part of my work is seeing the difference my firm makes in the communities we serve. Being a part of that greater whole is a fantastic feeling, and being surrounded by people who care so much about the planet and about the people we design for is really uplifting. I always say that the Studio G Architects office is a great place to be, and I learn something new every day.
What is a way that you de-stress from work, either in or outside of the workplace?
I’ve been really into reading lately, so coming home from work and relaxing with a book and a nice cup of tea is something I always look forward to!
What are you currently watching, reading, or listening to?
I’m a big fan of true crime podcasts, so I have been listening to various different ones recently - any and all of them interest me! As a former journalist, I really appreciate the in-depth reporting and getting to the bottom of different cases.
