Halloween is approaching, which brings the annual question of which costume you’ll be wearing this year. Sure, you could go trendy (Barbie & Oppenheimer), pop-culture inspired (one of Taylor Swift’s eras), or classic (witch, zombie, etc.), but why not wow your friends and family with an AEC marketing inspired costume? I’ve compiled a list of some of the scariest costumes I can think of, along with what you’ll need to bring it to life!

1. An RFP with strict formatting guidelines

What you’ll need:

  • Less than 20 pages
  • One inch margins
  • Minimum 12-pt font
  • 7 spiral bound hard copies
  • “This page not included in page limit” callouts

2. A cloudy photoshoot day

What you’ll need:

  • An untrustworthy weather report
  • “Artsy” exterior shots
  • The Photoshop “brightening” tool
  • A surplus of interior images
  • A rescheduled shoot date

3. A Tuesday due date after a Monday holiday

What you’ll need:

  • An abundance of “out of office” messages
  • Mixed feelings about the long weekend
  • Multiple follow up emails
  • A hamburger that just doesn’t taste as good with a side of overwhelming dread
  • A 12 pm deadline time, if you want to up the scare factor

4. State/Federal Forms

What you’ll need:

  • A Microsoft word document with wonky formatting
  • Clippy the “helpful” paperclip, if you want to go old-school
  • Inserted page breaks
  • Various pieces of project information that you’ve never even considered before
  • Times New Roman

5. That one project from 20 years ago that the team wants to include in a proposal

What you’ll need:

  • Archive folders
  • Promises that the project had the perfect image, if we can only find it
  • Google searches
  • Three other projects with similar names that gave you false hope
  • Dust

Happy haunting!
